About Datascribe
Overview
Datascribe was founded in 1984. Our principal offices are in Union, New Jersey. There we maintain infrastructure and support staff which run day-to-day operations and oversee a nationwide network of transcriptionists. While we employ a wide spectrum of technologies toifacilitate work flow, it is our ability to blend the right mix of technology with a dedicated staff of transcription professionals and rigorous quality assurance that sets us apart.
Mission
Datascribe's mission is to help insurance companies, third-party administrators and adjusters reduce their overall claims-based recording and transcription costs by providing client-centric solutions that improve efficiency.
History
Datascribe was founded as a court reporting transcription service in 1984, at a time when a new and exciting technology was just beginning to transform the court reporting industry. We were an early advocate of CAT (computer-assisted transcription) and became the in-house transcription agency for Barrister Reporting Service, a large and well-respected court reporting agency in New York City. A successful 10-year relationship ensued. Over the course of that period time, we produced several hundred thousand transcripts of depositions, arbitrations, hearings, board of directors meetings, governmental agency hearings, and other forms of legal transcription, and became recognized as one of the leading court reporting scoping agencies in the United States.
During the mid-to-late '90s and into the next century, we expanded our business by shifting the focus of our core business away from court reporting transcription towards providing a more generalized outsourced transcription service. Internet-based technologies now made it possible for us to serve many more industries than we had previously because we were no longer limited geographically and could now capture clients' recordings from all over the country and do so through a variety of methods, and also be able to process their work with an unlimited pool of home-based transcription talent who could work for us remotely.
Because of our court reporting expertise in verbatim transcription, insurance companies, and third-party administrators were a natural fit for us; for their part, insurance carriers and TPA's had begun embracing new technologies in an effort to streamline and reduce costs of claims processing. Law firms were still the predominant client base, but as the '90s drew to a close, insurance companies began to see the value of outsourcing their work flow to Datascribe.

While we predominantly serve the insurance claims industry where we have developed an impressive clientele of insurance carriers, third-party administrators and adjusters, we also continue to serve the healthcare, legal, educational, and governmental sectors as well.
